So this third entry in this series has been a long while coming. I'd like to it's because the show has caused in me a brain aneurysm which had left me comatose until this morning. Alas, while the show is sufficiently awful to cause such a misfortune (or a blessing, depending on one's perspective) that was not the case. More than anything I was mulling over whether an undiscovered blog site is the best place to document the ongoing rape of a beloved (my most beloved) intellectual property. Other mediums, particularly Reddit and the Whitecloaks subreddit, and some YouTubers (particularly Shad Brooks' Knight Watch, and Disparu, who seem to be the brave voices in the wilderness among astounding shills for the show) have been doing a very good job of detailing the show's failings. The more I thought about it, the more I believe that a blog is a better place to document matters for posterity; old videos can soon become hard to find in a content creator's library;...

This is the second entry in the Kill It With Balefire series, which is documenting my growing disbelief at how awful the Sony / Amazon production appears to be. As noted from the trailer, the show-runners seem to be diverging meaningfully from the plot of the original story, including: Elevating certain characters to greater roles (Egwene and Logain) Reducing other characters to bit roles or delaying their introduction (Thom Merrilin and Padan Fain) Adding additional plot lines that are not needed (Egwene's Women's Circle Initiation and the whole Logain chase) Getting nearly every costume wrong (from Aes Sedai combat outfits, the lack of color-shifting Warder cloaks, to the silly bath robes Mat and Rand appear to be walking around in) Utilizing cheap special effects and CGI Ruining Myrddraal Invariably, most of my criticisms of the trailer were ultimately related to the costume department. Though it might seem trivial, that would only be to someone that has not read t...

This is a blog about the forthcoming Wheel of Time television series, being produced by Sony and Amazon, with the first season forthcoming in November of 2021. I will state from the outset, that I am a pretty serious fan of the book series. This series has been complete since early 2013, and I've re-read all of the books multiple times since then. Nothing that old can be deemed a spoiler. I will also state, at the outset, that I am wholly pessimistic about the Sony and Amazon production, as nothing that I have seen or heard about the series gives me much confidence. Though I have long hoped that a series could be made; and I understand the herculean tasks involved; I think they are going about it 100% the wrong way. After a bit of preamble, I aim to dissect the Sony and Amazon trailer in this post; providing explanation to each ma...
